GCSE Chemistry practical skills paper 1
Making salts, Rates of reaction, Chromatography: questions and full mark scheme
A timed practical-skills paper on making salts, rates of reaction, chromatography, with a full mark scheme.
What is inside
- Front page with instructions and the time allowed
- Questions on three required practicals, each built on a simulated classmate’s results, with answer spaces
- One 6-mark level-of-response question
- Full mark scheme: answers, marking points, level descriptors and error carried forward
A 30 to 40 mark paper on three chemistry required practicals: Making salts, Rates of reaction, Chromatography. Every question uses a simulated classmate’s results from the Study Hack Lab model, so the data look like a real class’s, with their spread and their anomalies. Skills are balanced across reading and recording, processing, graphs, evaluation and method, with one 6-mark level-of-response question.
The mark scheme gives each answer, the marking points, what else to allow, the level descriptors for the 6-mark question, and where an answer can carry an error forward from an earlier part.
