Questions

Exam-style questions on your own readings, marked point by point

Questions follow the conventions of the real papers: the context first, a figure or table labelled above, the marks in brackets, a labelled answer line. They are written for Study Hack, and the numbers come from a run, yours once you have done the practical.

03.1

You plotted the mass of the sugar solution (y-axis) against its volume (x-axis).

Your line of best fit passes through the origin and the point where the volume is 80 cm³ and the mass is 86.9 g.

Figure 1

Calculate the density of the sugar solution.[2 marks]

  1. ρ = gradient = 86.9 ÷ 80
  2. ρ = 1.09 g/cm³

Density = 1.09 g/cm³

  1. M1ρ = 86.9 ÷ 80 (the gradient), mark awarded
  2. A1ρ = 1.09 g/cm³, mark awarded

2 marks out of 2

The classic slip, and what the scheme’s note says

ρ = 80 ÷ 86.9 = 0.92 g/cm³0 marks out of 2

Mass ÷ volume, not volume ÷ mass: 86.9 ÷ 80 = 1.09 g/cm³.

How your answers are marked

Only closed answers are marked automatically. Nothing you write is sent anywhere, and there is no AI marking.

  • Numbers and closed answers

Calculations, units, significant figures, multiple choice, readings off a figure and plotted points are marked for you. A mark for the method, a mark for the answer.

  • Answers in words

You press Mark my answer, and the scheme appears beside what you wrote, point by point, with its allow and do-not-accept notes. You tick what your answer makes.

  • Six-mark answers are self-checked

A six-mark answer is judged on how complete and well linked it is. You tick the points it makes, then choose the level that fits. The mark is recorded as your own check.

Error carried forward. If an earlier answer was wrong and you used it correctly, you keep the method marks that follow from it, as an examiner would give them.

From one question to a whole paper

The paper below was built by the exam builder. Its numbers come from a run, so each version is different.

Papers

A whole exam paper in one click, with numbers of its own

Say what the paper is for and the exam builder sets it: full mock, topic test, 20-minute practical skills check, practise my weak skills or start from blank. A full mock keeps the real paper’s time and marks. Each version has its own numbers and code, and one class mark scheme covers them all.

This mock reaches 35 of the 39 specification points in Physics Paper 1. The builder shows this beside every paper it sets, so you can see what a paper leaves out.

Choose what a paper is for

You see the paper as it prints, and can move, swap or remove questions. Up to 36 versions can be made, each with its own numbers and code, with one mark scheme.

  1. Full mock

One specification paper at its real length and time: whole questions across its content, including its required practicals.

  2. Topic test

Thirty marks on one topic, easier questions first.

  3. 20-minute practical skills check

Twenty marks on planning, measuring and evaluating. No six-mark answer.

  4. Practise my weak skills

Questions on the skills your record shows you have tried but not yet secured.

  5. Start from blank

An empty paper. Add whole questions one at a time.

After you sit a paper

  1. Your marksYour marks by question and by skill, with each slip named.
  2. PractisePractise exactly the questions you dropped, on new numbers, or go back to the practical.
  3. Again, on new numbersRetake the dropped questions on fresh numbers, so a right answer shows the method.

What is covered today

For AQA GCSE, the bank holds 4,111 questions: 3,391 written and 720 multiple choice, across 313 specification points. Some are set on a required practical, with numbers from a run; others are set on the wider specification.

The detail

Questions on your own data

When you finish a practical, its questions are set on your own readings: your table, your graph, your result. Before then they use a sample run. A new run gives new numbers, so a right answer shows the method rather than a remembered value.

The questions are written for Study Hack. They follow the conventions of the real papers (the context first, figures and tables labelled above, “quantity in unit” headings, the marks in brackets, a labelled answer line) but none is copied from an exam board’s papers.

Equation sheets in 2026 and 2027

For GCSE Physics and Combined Science exams in June 2026 and June 2027, AQA’s Physics Equations Sheet also prints the equations students used to learn by heart, such as density, weight, F = m a, V = I R and wave speed. A part that asks you to “write down the equation that links” two quantities is then a matter of choosing the right one from the sheet, and Study Hack labels it that way.

For exams from June 2028, AQA has said the sheets will continue but a question will no longer be answerable only by copying from them. Each physics question in Study Hack follows the sheet for the exam year you choose.

What it does not do

We would rather you heard it here.

  • It does not predict grades, and it makes no promise about results.
  • It does not reproduce past papers, and it is not made or checked by an exam board.
  • A mark you tick on an answer in words is your own judgement against the scheme.
  • A paper reaches only the specification points its questions are set on. The builder shows this beside every paper.

For parents: it works in the browser with nothing to install, and your child’s answers and marks stay in the browser on your own device. See helping with science practicals and privacy.
